A synth pad is a tone or chord that is held and generated by a synthesizer. It's most commonly used as a background companion to any song, harmonizing the melodies to produce something unique. Synth pads were wildly popular in the 80's, and have shown up again recently in the late 2000's.

All synth, all the time:

Popular instrument manufacturers, like Roland, came out with a variety of synthesizers, including the JP-8000.

So for today, we've decided to add JP Pad Major and JP Pad Minor to the growing list of instruments in Roc, our music creator. This means you have 24 new synth effects to add to your 'roc-in' jams. You can find the latest installment in the instruments tool bar, located on the right hand side.

Remember, every instrument, including JP Pad Major and Minor, is licensed under creative commons attribution, and can be used commercially. This means that you can use any music you've created in Roc (even in a commercial project!) as long as you give Aviary credit. Check out our demo to get an idea of what these new effects sound like!
