Cinco de Mayo, which commemorates the Mexican army's defeat of the French, we thought we would pass along a very special Aviary recipe for guacamole. Guacamole comes from two Aztec Nahuatl words - ahuacatl (avocado) and molli (sauce).
2 ripe avocados
Mash the avocado with a fork and add the onion, cilantro, lime or lemon, salt and pepper, and mash it some more. Start with half of a chili pepper and add more, depending on how hot you like things.
Keep the tomatoes separate until ready to serve. That's it!
Let us know how your guacamole turns out! Also, if you feel so inclined, it would be great to see some more cilantro on Aviary. Cilantro is great, and crucial to many fine recipes.
Buen Provecho and Happy Cinco de Mayo!
