Mobile Spotlight: iLoader 2

We recently launched our photo-editing SDK, a mobile version of our popular web-based simple photo editor. Developers of mobile applications can now add our photo editor’s powerful functionality into any iPhone or Android app with just a few lines of code! Read on to see what iLoader 2 did with our tools, or check out the rest of our partners to see how they’re putting our editor to use.

There’s only one downside to a Camera Roll chock full of pictures: how the heck are you supposed to get all of them shared? Users have consistently bemoaned the tedious, process that is uploading mobile images, one by one, to Facebook. Long gone are the days where we had to post individual pictures on the internet via dialogue boxes. So why is mobile still stuck with archaic uploaders?

We know, we’ve been frustrated too. That’s why we want you to meet one of our partners: iLoader 2.

Download the iPhone app now!

Download the Android app now!

To see our editing tools join forces with batch uploading, open iLoader and tap the upload photos button. iLoader 2 will access your Camera Roll. To select a photo, tap once; to preview it, tap twice. Once you’ve selected your photos of choice, tap done. Your choices will enter the menu, where you’ll tap edit photos, and then the arrow button in the upper right hand corner, to enter our editor.

As an addition to the arsenal of our simple, intuitive, and efficient partners, iLoader 2 unites Aviary’s editor with the ease and convenience of their batch uploading. Got a whole weekend’s worth of pictures to share on Facebook? Don’t want the process to take half an hour to upload and tag? You know exactly what to do (and now, how to do it!)

iLoader 2 users, this leaves you with a far more pressing question: what are you going to do with your newfound free time?

Want to know more? Check out iLoader’s Facebook page!

Mobile Spotlight: PicPlz

We recently launched our photo-editing SDK, a mobile version of our popular web-based simple photo editor. Developers of mobile applications can now add our photo editor’s powerful functionality into any iPhone or Android app with just a few lines of code! Read on to see what PicPlz did with our tools, or check out the rest of our partners to see how they’re putting our editor to use.

Photographs are inherently social. We gather with our friends to pore over photos of weddings, vacations, adventures — photographs have become a crucial part of vicarious experience and enjoyment. That being said, the act of getting your friends together is no small feat; when our schedules prevent us from sharing our pictures in person, PicPlz is there.

Download the iPhone app now!

Download the Android app now!

PicPlz is a platform that supports real-time sharing and distribution of mobile photos. Its community is passionate, active, and crazy about the ability to see what other people are seeing, doing, and experiencing. Like other digital, real-time services, the element of immediacy — knowing that what you’re seeing is something happening right now, somewhere out there — adds an extra coolness factor to the photo feed. Like, comment, and follow users or photos to curate a visual photographic feed filled with things you want to see!

Aviary’s editor has been integrated into PicPlz, which means our tools have joined PicPlz’s wide selection of filters and effects (awesomeness begets awesomeness, does it not?)

To see how the integration works, simply take or upload your photo. Once it enters PicPlz’s workflow, tap the edit button on the upper left hand corner of the screen to open Aviary’s editor. Fix your photo accordingly — PicPlz has fifteen of our tools for you to play with! When you’re done, you can add a caption and a geotag, and your photo is off to join the millions that have already been shared.

We’re incredibly happy to have partnered with PicPlz to make your pictures look as wonderful as can be. Only the best for our users!

Mobile spotlight: Fotobabble

We recently launched our photo-editing SDK, a mobile version of our popular web-based simple photo editor. Developers of mobile applications can now add our photo editor’s powerful functionality into any iPhone or Android app with just a few lines of code! Read on to see what Fotobabble did with our tools, or check out the rest of our partners to see how they’re putting our editor to use.

Nowadays, everyone wants multiple functions in a single package. Take cameras, for instance: you have them embedded in your laptop, on your cell phone, and now on your tablet. Packing a range of functionality into a single device is becoming increasingly ubiquitous, if not expected, and Fotobabble is taking that idea and running with it.

Download the iPhone app now!

So, sure: you can have phones that take pictures. You can have a camera on your laptop. But what about the actual images themselves?

That’s where Fotobabble is setting themselves apart. With their service, the media itself — your photos — has the ability to be far more than visual stimuli. By embedding audio into your pictures, Fotobabble enables “talking photos” to communicate to your viewers and engage them with your images and voice.

Aviary’s image editor can be found on Fotobabble’s iOS application. To get started, take a picture or use one from your Camera Roll (tap on the photograph icon in the lower right hand corner). This will bring the image onto your screen.

Tap the Edit button to bring up Aviary’s in-line image editor, which has been beautifully customized to match Fotobabble’s app. Crop your photo, add effects, or play with the colors, stickers, and text, and use Fotobabble’s recording feature to add an audible caption or message to your work!

We’re proud to join forces with innovators like Fotobabble. The newfound ability to add your own personal touch to mobile images with Aviary’s editor and Fotobabble’s audio capability is proof that we’re changing the way you approach and experience photos, making them increasingly malleable vehicles for creativity, self-expression, and sharing with loved ones.

Instapage Integrates Aviary API to Add Photo Editing Functionality

Most of the time, talk of evolution is restricted to the biological realm — most of the time. What if we could get a website to adapt? What if it was a learning entity that figured out its most effective strategies, and implemented those tactics on its own? In other words: are you impressed yet?

Meet Instapage, the first landing page that learns what works best, based upon the actions and reactions of its visitors. Despite some incredibly sophisticated technology bolstering their platform, Instapage prides itself on its ease of use. Their MO: “Easy enough your grandma can use it, yet powerful enough your boss will approve.”

(Hey Instapage, guess what? Us too.)

To see Aviary in action, go to Instapage’s page builder, select editable content (demarcated on the site by a graphic of a page, folder, etc.), click on the red “EDIT” tab that appears in the upper right hand corner, and upload a photo from the menu.

Once the photo is in place, double click on it to bring up our embeddable web editor. Tweak your photo accordingly and you’re done!

We’re proud to announce that we’ve partnered with Instapage to bring our image editor to their smart landing pages. In addition to its highly customizable layouts, the best part of Instapage is its versatility — you can use it for practically anything. One click fixes meets smart website with optimized content delivery: we love this combination almost as much as you do.

Check out Instapage’s intelligent landing page today!

The more streamlined, the better — right? iSocialize certainly thinks so.

Download the iPhone app here!

Rest your weary fingers: you can text, email, share any sort of multimedia, and access all your social apps in one place. iSocialize has the full Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ apps — no more shoddy UIs from subpar third parties! Share images, music, locations, and YouTube videos on the platform, as well as animated emoticons and SMS art. When we say iSocialize is all-encompassing, we mean it. That’s one of the many reasons  why it was featured in Apple’s All-Time Top Paid apps.

To see Aviary’s integration with iSocialize, tap on Camera to take a picture or Filters to select a photo from your Camera Roll. This will bring you to a Message window that allows you to post to Twitter. Tap the Filters button to enter Aviary’s editor, and voila — your photo is ready to be edited and shared.

We’re always happy to partner with apps that make your life easier and your mobile experience that more fun, and iSocialize does it fantastically. Check out iSocialize on the iTunes App Store today!

Mobile Spotlight: Snapr

We recently launched our photo-editing SDK, a mobile version of our popular web-based simple photo editor. Developers of mobile applications can now add our photo editor’s powerful functionality into any iPhone or Android app with just a few lines of code! Read on to see what Snapr did with our tools, or check out the rest of our partners to see how they’re putting our editor to use.

Many consider cartography a lost art, but Snapr’s new iOS app combines old school technique with modern day technology. With GPS and geotags, Snapr enables users to create photographic maps that are organized by place (latest photos taken in a given part of town) and time (images that were all taken around the same time).

Download the iPhone app now!

There are multiple viewing methods for maps, which means users can toggle between various maps with images from the entire Snapr community, people they follow, or just themselves. Additionally, Snapr keeps track of popular activity from major cities around the world. Its sharing functionality allows users to contribute to these maps, but also connects to other social platforms such as Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, and foursquare.

To see Aviary’s editing tools at work within the Snapr app, simply take a picture — we’ll start with this adorable glamour shot of our office dog, Pubby.

The rest is a breeze. Add text, tap the edit button, tweak your photo accordingly, and watch as your fixed image magically joins the local image ecosystem!

Thanks to Snapr, visual cartography is now in the hands of the people — we’re very proud of our partnership and can’t wait to see more Aviary-edited images begin to populate the mobile maps of the world.

Aviary at NYC BigApps 3.0

Yesterday’s sold-out New York Tech Meetup was eventful for reasons other than demos or the attendance of Mayor Bloomberg. NYC BigApps 3.0, a city-centric hackathon, was announced for the weekend of November 11-13 at Pivotal Labs, where hackers will use publicly-released city data to build mobile and web applications that are equally cool and useful — yet another example of the intersection of tech and municipal good! Learn more about NYC BigApps 3.0 on their blog, or read it on TechCrunch.

We’re thrilled to be one of the sponsors of NYC BigApps, along with other awesome startups like Bit.ly, Etsy, Foursquare, and Tumblr.

The competition demonstrates the city’s continued support of technical entrepreneurship with its generosity ($50,000 in cash prizes) and the incredible opportunities it provides: two slots to present at NYTM, two TechStars finalist slots, and the chance to demo in front of the likes of John Borthwick (Betaworks), Chris Dixon (Hunch), Naveen Selvadurai (foursquare), David Tisch (TechStars), and Fred Wilson (Union Square Ventures).

Our API has been used to create some awesome stuff in multiple hackathons in the past, including Photo Hack Day and hackNY. Check out our API on our developers site to start brainstorming ways to put our editing tools to use — truly good use.

At Aviary, we wholeheartedly believe in democratizing and empowering the online creative space. It naturally follows that we support NYC BigApps 3.0 in its mission to bring social good and the infinite possibilities of tech together. Register here: hope to see you there!
