This week’s Blackbox is another vintage color filter. This version has a strong tinting effect with darkening and a blurring vignette. Have fun aging your photos with this filter!
Just search for “vintage” in the Blackbox browser (Go to File -> Import Blackbox) and start making awesome creations!

It’s the moment all teachers and their students have been waiting for! You’ve all been patiently relaunching and resaving the apps in Aviary Education in order to download your creations, an arduous process that we despised from the beginning.
Luckily, you won’t ever have to do this again. Each creation on Aviary Education (images and audio alike!) now has its own download button directly underneath it. Just click and it’ll download – it’s that simple! Phew.
Please note that teachers can download any creations, but students are only able to download their own. Also, remember that you have the ability to download .egg files (the layered Aviary files) from within the apps to your desktop for backup saving, but this isn’t the same as flattening your creation and saving it as a normal image or audio file.

Well, have no fear! If you’re bad with dates (like me), then we’ve got a super simple and effective solution for you! Add some fun dad-like stickers to your awesome son/daughter and father portraits. You know, pagers, bbqs, briefcases, things that dads totally love….well at least we think…right?? You can find all these and more in our new Father’s Day sticker pack for Feather, our simple image editor!!!
Launch Feather now to start expressing your affection! You can find the stickers option on the bottom-right corner of the editor.

As you may recall, we partnered up with Wizard World last month to offer their Comic-Con attendees an additional level of user interaction. Using the Comic Book filter from our Effects API, adventurous Comic-Con goers were able Comic-ize themselves with a simple email. In fact, some might say the photo returned was faster than a speeding bullet, maybe even faster than Flash himself!
Philadelphia Comic-Con is just getting started at the PA Convention Center, and will continue on Saturday and Sunday, June 18th and 19th. Of course, there’s no way we’d let such an awesome, superhero-filled event slide by without adding an additional layer of Aviary fun to the event! Each image will be showcased in the Wizard World’s photo gallery, and will be entered to win a signed lithograph from the original Zombie King artist, Arthur Suydam! Hoo hah!

What is WalkAbout NYC you ask?
It’s a celebration of the technology and entrepreneurial culture in New York City. A variety of start-ups, including Aviary, Meetup, Vimeo, Animoto, and more will be opening their doors to the public! Come check out the workspaces, and meet the people leading the technology change in NYC during this city-wide open house!

It’s Internet Week in NYC!

What is API Hack Day? It’s a day where developers will get together for an all-day coding fest. Developers of all experience levels will be collaborating together to share ideas on current and future projects. They’ll focus and collaborate with one another to build awesome apps with various APIs, and with the recent launch of our Effects API, it’s a perfect event for us to be a part of.
