Audio editor Myna was the best online production resource I have ever seen! I’m so glad I found it! it was a huge help and I am sad that it is being closed. Quantum tracks are excellent in every way! I know that there are good reasons that it was closed, but I will still miss having the greatest music production studio at such a place were I can effortlessly find millions of loops, and record my own music. With all the photo editing stuff on the internet, I would think you would find a rising niche and define that. Everyone knows that it is next to impossible to find quality programming to record and mix music online. You guys were it. Why jump into a sea of what everyone is already doing? I only got to use Myna once. I told everyone how great it was. Now, that I have the rest of the equipment I needed, I come back to find it gone. So disappointing. I understand and applaud your quest for excellence. However, your audio editor was excellent. I would pay money regularly to see it come back. Avi: Thanks for your openness. For what it’s worth, as a CEO of a company myself, I really understand your focus on being good at one thing. All that said, I wonder what would have happened if you had charged $5-7 a month for many of your suites. I honestly think people would have paid (I would have easily), and you could have used that money to bring more people in. I know so many people who have never heard of your suite. With the right marketing, it could have made it. I’m just surprised that there are no buyers. This is a real loss for people who want low cost/high power creative tools. Your investors must be really committed to not want you to try and monetize rather than shutting down. Thanks for a great tool.

I’ll always be grateful to Avi and the original team for giving me the tools to see how wrong my ‘teachers’ were 50 years ago when they told me I couldn’t make art. I hope to find something else but my first love will always be Peacock and in particular Shapedraw. They changed my life.To discover the ability to make art at my age was amazing. I just hope that something comes along that makes it possible for kids to discover their creative abilities without having to wait half a century. Again, thanks. I understand you wanted to focus on your photography end, but as an elementary computer lab teacher, I’m so disappointed to lose Myna. My students were able to create their own music mp3 (which I burned to a cd for them) with your music snippets. This was one of their favorite projects. Since I don’t have Macs, Garageband is not possible and Audacity doesn’t have the music there already to use. I’m still looking to find something comparable and FREE.

Cracked Heel/Foot Home Remedy

Have you managed to neglect your feet and especially your heels during these past few months of summer?Such cracks can be really painful and even bleed.

Although this common foot problem is likely to happen in the summer months when open shoes or sandals are popular, they can carry on into the winter when dry and chapped skin is common. The first sign that you might develop cracked heels is the appearance of dry, hard, thickened skin around the rim of the heel. The skin starts to look yellow or dark brown and tiny cracks or fissures start to be visible. If no cracked heel treatment is applied and more pressure is placed on the heel, these cracks become deeper so that walking and even standing are painful.

The cracks may become so deep that they start to bleed and may even become infected. Cracked heels definitely seem to be more of a female problem while the guys suffer with Athlete’s foot. Commonly, cracked skin on our heels and feet is caused by excessively dry skin. For many it’s worse in the winter months or for those who live and work frequently in dry environments. But going barefoot and wearing shoes with open backs can exacerbate the problem, meaning that even in the summer our feet are in rough shape.

Home Remedy

*Try petroleum jelly. It may take a while to soak in, but petroleum jelly is a good way to restore moisture to cracked heels. Try coating your feet in petroleum jelly at night before bed, slip on some comfy socks, and let it soak in overnight while you are asleep.

• Invest in a good foot cream. Look for rich, heavy moisturizing creams or even oils to rub into your dry feet. If it feels greasy, it’s good for those dry, cracked heels. You should do this as soon as you get out of the tub for thebest absorption.

• Drink plenty of water. Drink lots of water to help rehydrate your skin as you heal those cracked heels.

• Ease off the soaps. It’s important to keep cracked heels clean and dry, but a harsh soap can keep drying out those feet. Use a gentle, mild cleanser that won’t strip more moisture out of your feet.

• Moisturize after each shower. Every time you step out of the bath or shower, the next step should be to rub moisturizer into your feet. This helps to seal moisture in.

• Skip a shower. If you can, try not to bathe every day – and certainly not more than once a day. Water inside the body hydrates, but water outside the body washes away oils and sucks the moisture out. When you do bathe, keep it short. The more time you spend in the tub, the more moisture you’re losing in your feet.

• Try an oatmeal bath. Skip harsh soaps in favor of something a little less drying. Bathing with a moisturizing, skin-soothing cleanser that is oatmeal-based will help protect feet from cracked heels.

• Keep water lukewarm. Instead of a toasty-hot bath or shower, keep the water a little cooler. Very hot water willdry out your skin – on your feet and everywhere else.

• Don’t scrub your feet. Vigorously rubbing your feet with a washcloth to get them clean or a towel to dry them after you bathe will only dry them out more. Gently pat your skin clean and dry instead.

Appendicitis Home Remedy

In the human body, the appendix is situated on the lower side of the abdomen. It has a cylindrical shape and forms a part of the larger intestine. Appendicitis is a condition when the appendix gets swollen or inflamed, mainly because of primary obstruction of the appendix lumen. The risk of having appendicitis is more between the ages of 10 and 30. Its main symptom is a shooting, almost unbearable, pain on the lower right side of the stomach. Home Remedy for Appendicitis

The best home remedy for appendicitis would be a mix of 100 ml cucumber juice, 100 ml beet juice and 300 ml carrot juice. Intake this juice regularly, two times a day.

Buttermilk helps in curing chronic appendicitis. A liter of buttermilk should be consumed, on an everyday basis, for about a fortnight.

In a liter of cold water, add 1 tsp fenugreek seeds and let it boil. Now, strain the water and have it while it’s still warm, but not too hot. This would prove effective to cure appendicitis naturally.

Appendicitis can also be cured by having green grams. 1 tsp of sprouted green grams, twice or thrice a day; will prove to be worthwhile in treating appendicitis.

For people who suffer from fever, along with appendicitis, decoction of the basil leaves will prove beneficial. Steep the leaves in boiling water and let them stand for 5 minutes. Strain it and your decoction is ready.

Ginger helps in those appendicitis cases where the patient also has the tendency to vomit. Add a pinch of rock salt to 1 tsp of ginger juice and drink it. Alternatively, you can store raw cut pieces of ginger, with some rock salt, in a bottle and have it with your meals.

Ginger and turmeric act as a good combination for treating appendicitis. They can be taken in a raw or powdered form. It reduces the pain and swollenness resulting from appendicitis.

Star Wars Episode 7 Will Be Come in 2015

George Lucas has taken the opportunity here in his lifetime to make a deal with Disney this week to sell his company Lucasfilm and all rights to the Star Wars empire, this ushering in news that nearly as large: a new Star Wars movie will appear in 2015! The Lucasfilm company is being transferred to Disney for an agreement in cash and stocks for $4.05 billion USD, a number strikingly similar to the total amount of cash the Star Wars franchise has earned in box office cash to date: $4.4 billion. Don’t get those two numbers mixed up – meanwhile, get pumped up for Star Wars Episode 7 in less than three years! The next Star Wars movie has no real details surrounding it at the moment other than the fact that it will, indeed, be housed in the same Star Wars galaxy (of course), and that it’ll almost certainly be made with real-world actors. By 2015 though, there’s no knowing what that could entail – having seen the advancements in movies like Tron: Legacy, we wouldn’t rule out Mark Hamill and Carrie Fischer coming back for another jaunt. As the official release on the subject goes, the episode will expand the universe “well into the future.”

Kathleen Kennedy, current Co-Chairman of Lucasfilm, will become President of Lucasfilm, reporting to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. Additionally she will serve as the brand manager for Star Wars, working directly with Disney’s global lines of business to build, further integrate, and maximize the value of this global franchise. Ms. Kennedy will serve as executive producer on new Star Wars feature films, with George Lucas serving as creative consultant. Chicken Pox Home Remedy

A highly contagious disease, chicken pox is a viral infection that is usually prevalent in small children, aged 3 to 4. Although the instances are few and far between, chicken pox can affect adults as well and in this case, it is much more severe than that in kids. Chicken pox can spread by direct contact or breathing in the air that has germs from an affected person’s cough or sneeze. The most usual symptoms of chicken pox include low grade fever, mild headache, rash, loss of appetite and a feeling of weakness. It might be amusing, but the symptoms of chicken pos are not visible until it reaches the infectious stage. Vaccinations have reduced the instance of chicken pox, but the disease has not vanished altogether. Chicken pox is usually caused due to the virus called varicella-zoster. It might not be possible to completely cure chicken pox, as it would go on its own. However, the irritation and itching involved with it can be minimized, using some home remedies.

Home Remedies

One of the most effective ways of treating chicken pox would be using brown vinegar. Add ½ cup vinegar to lukewarm bathwater. Apart from lessening the irritation, it would also help heal the lesions.

Add 2 tbsp marigold flowers and 1 tsp hazel leaves in a cup of water and steep them overnight. In the morning, grind it and apply the mixture on the rash. It would help relieve the itching.

Put a bowl of water in a pan and add green peas to it. Place it on flame and set it to boil. Once boiled, strain the water and apply it on the affected area. This would relieve the irritation and itching.

Sandalwood oil also proves helpful in treating chicken pox. Apply the oil on the rashes right from the time chicken pox appears till its last days. It would also prevent scars from blemishing the skin.

Coat the affected area with honey. It would not only relieve you of the irritation, but would also heal the rash.

Grind oatmeal into a fine powder. Add 2 cups of this powder to the bath water. For better results, add one to one and a half cup of baking soda to the same water. It would help in healing the lesions

Consumption of carrot and coriander soup would be beneficial in the treatment of chicken pox. Take about 100 grams of carrots and 60 grams of fresh coriander and finely chop them. Boil this mixture for a while. Strain the concoction, cool it down and drink it once a day.

Immerse a handful of neem leaves in your bath water. It would provide healing effect and cure you of irritation.

Application of Vitamin E oil on the rashes is another effective home remedy for chicken pox. Not only does it help prevent the itching, but also removes the scars quickly.

Make a tea using chamomile, basil, marigold and lemon balm. Add a pinch of cinnamon, honey, and lemon to enhance its healing property. Consuming this tea several times a day would be very beneficial.

Mix 2 tbsp of queen of the meadow, 1 tsp of coltsfoot leaves and 2 tsp of marigold flowers in 2 cups of boiling water. After boiling the water for about 20 minutes, strain it. Cool the decoction and have it once a day

Cough Home Remedy

Coughing is a means by which the body throws out or gets rid of substances that are irritating the air passages in their way. Cough can be classified into two types – productive cough, which produces phlegm from the lungs and the other is nonproductive cough, which is dry and doesn’t produce any phlegm from the lungs. Cough can be acute lasting for a few days to chronic, lasting for a few weeks. It is not restricted to any particular age group and can affect everyone. Coughing is accompanied with a typical noise from the act of exhaling air suddenly in order to clear the phlegm or the blocking. Cough can be treated at home. Home Remedies

An effective remedy for treating cough would to slightly cut a lemon and fill it with black pepper. Suck this as it would reduce the cough.

One of the easiest methods would be to add a pinch of grounded white pepper in one tea spoon of pure honey. Intake this 2 to 3 times a day for about 4 to 5 days.

Grapes tone up the lungs and act as expectorant. Increase in the consumption would be favorable in curing cough.

Take 1-2 gm each of black pepper, long pepper, and dry ginger. Make a mixture of these ingredients and have it along with honey for 2-3 days.

Increase in the consumption of garlic also acts beneficial in treating cough.

Add ¼ teaspoon of red pepper, ¼ teaspoon of ground ginger, 1 table spoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 table spoon of honey in 2 tablespoon of normal water to make a paste. Make a paste of these ingredients and have it once a day for treating cough problem.

Gargle with warm spinach juice. This is helpful in curing dry cough.

For people suffering from dry cough, mix half spoon of Cuscus grass (khas khas) in 3-4 teaspoons of coconut milk. To enhance the efficacy, add one teaspoon of honey. Drink this before going to bed.

Take 100 grams of raisins and grind it with some water. Add 100 grams of sugar and heat the mixture till it turns saucy. Intake about 20 grams of this every day before sleeping at night.

Prepare a tea. Add aniseed and holy basil to it. Drink this tea at least twice a day to get relief from relief from cough.

Soak almonds overnight. In the morning, remove their brown cover and make a paste adding 20gm of butter and sugar to it. Have this twice a day in the morning as well as in the evening.

Another effective home remedy would be to chew 4 basil leaves and black pepper. It would provide instant relief and treat the cough quickly.

Onions when mixed with honey also provide relief. Extract onion juice and mix it with honey. Consume this mixture 2-3 times’ day. Another method would be to crush onions and add one lemon juice to it in a cup of boiling water. Pour in some honey and drink this mixture 2-3 times a day.

Take 500 grams of water and Boil 10 grams of Sprague in it for 15 minutes. After it has cooled, add two pinches of salt. Gargle with this mixture two times a day. Apart from clearing excessive mucous, it would also soothe the throat.

Boil a cup of water and put a 1 tsp of Marjoram in it. Leave this mixture for 10-15 minutes and then drink. Have this three to four times a day to get cured of cough.

Mint leaves work well to remove the dark skin. Take some fresh ground mint leaves and make a paste of it. Keep it for 15 minutes and later rinse of.

Grate a tomato and add 2-3 drops of lime to it. Apply this mixture on the face and keep it for 15 minutes. Repeat this two times a day for better results.

Oxford’s Word Of 2012 “Omnishambles”

Melbourne, Nov 13: Oxford University Press on Tuesday crowned the word – “omnishambles,” defined as “a situation that has been comprehensively mismanaged, characterised by a string of blunders and miscalculations,” as its top term of 2012.

Each year Oxford University Press tracks how the English language is changing and chooses a word that best reflects the mood of the year, News.com.au reported.

The publisher typically chooses separate British and American winners. This year’s American champion is “gif”, short for graphics interchange format, a common format for images on the internet.

Coined by writers of the satirical television show “The Thick of It,” omnishambles has been applied to everything from government PR blunders to the crisis-ridden preparations for the London Olympics.

Oxford University Press lexicographer Susie Dent said the word was chosen for its popularity as well as its “linguistic productivity.”

She said “a notable coinage coming from the word is Romneyshambles” – a derisive term used by the British press after US presidential candidate Mitt Romney expressed doubts about London’s ability to host a successful Olympics.

Omnishambles was chosen over shortlisted terms including “mummy porn” – the genre exemplified by the best-selling 50 Shades book series – and “green-on-blue,” military attacks by forces regarded as neutral, as when members of the Afghan army or police attack foreign troops.

The Olympics offered up finalists including the verb “to medal,” “Games Maker” – the name given to thousands of Olympic volunteers – and distance runner Mo Farah’s victory dance, “the Mobot.”

Europe’s financial crisis lent the shortlisted word “Eurogeddon,” while technology produced “second screening” – watching TV while simultaneously using a computer, phone or tablet – and social media popularised the acronym “YOLO,” you only live once – an old word given new life.

“Pleb,” a derogatory epithet for lower-class people, was alleged to have been uttered to a police officer by British Cabinet minister Andrew Mitchell. He denied using the term.

All the shortlisted words have made a splash in 2012, but editors said that there is no guarantee any of them will endure long enough to enter the hallowed pages of the Oxford English Dictionary.

Acne is a skin condition that causes spots. Acne usually affects the skin of the face, back, neck, chest and arms and the severity of the condition can vary. Symptoms of acne Acne typically causes one or more of the following: • greasy skin • blackheads (open comedones) • whiteheads (closed comedones) • red or yellow spots (pustules) • deep inflamed lesions (nodules and cysts) • scars

Causes of Acne

Acne is caused by over activity of the sebaceous glands that secrete oily substances on to your skin. The surface of your skin has lots of small sebaceous glands just below the surface. These glands make sebum (natural oil) that keeps the skin smooth and supple. Tiny pores (holes in the skin) allow the sebum to come to the surface of your skin. Hairs also grow through these pores. The sebaceous glands of people with acne are especially sensitive to normal blood levels of a hormone called testosterone, found naturally in both men and women. If you are prone to acne, testosterone triggers the sebaceous glands to produce excess sebum. At the same time, the dead skin cells lining the openings of the hair follicles (the tubes that hold the hair) aren’t shed properly and clog up the follicles. The combination of these two effects causes a build-up of oil in your hair follicles. This causes blackheads and white heads to form. For some people, their acne doesn’t progress beyond this stage. However, in other people the build-up of oil in the hair follicles creates an ideal environment for a bacterium called Propionibacterium acnes to grow. These bacteria usually live harmlessly on your skin but when the conditions are right, they grow. They feed off the sebum and produce substances that cause an immune response. This inflamesthe skin and creates the redness associated with spots. In more severe inflammatory acne, cysts develop beneath the skin’s surface. If these cysts rupture, the infection can spread. This can result in scars. Contrary to popular belief, acne isn’t caused by diet or hygiene. However, acne can be hereditary. Acne isn’t infectious, so you can’t catch it.

Treatment for Acne

There is a range of treatment options to help treat acne. As acne can’t be cured, treatments aim to control the symptoms by: • preventing new spots forming • improving those already present • preventing scarring Your GP will usually assess your treatment after six weeks and, if beneficial, treatment will continue for four to six months. Self-help It’s important to keep spot-prone areas clean, so wash the affected area twice a day with an unperfumed cleanser. The skin needs a certain amount of oil to maintain its natural condition, so it’s best to use gentle soaps and not to scrub your skin too hard when washing

Medicines

There are a number of over-the-counter remedies available from pharmacies to treat mild acne. These usually containantibacterial agents such as benzyl peroxide (e.g. Oxy and Clearasil Max). As well as its antibacterial effects, benzyl peroxide can dry out the skin and encourage it to shed the surface layer of dead skin. Together, these effects make it harder for pores to become blocked and for infection to develop

Benzyl peroxide can cause redness and peeling, especially to start with. This tends to settle down if you reduce the number of times you use it. You can then build up your use gradually. Home treatments for acne won’t work immediately. It can take weeks, sometimes months, for significant effects to be noticeable. If home treatments haven’t worked after two months, or you have severe acne, you should visit your GP. Your GP may start your treatment by prescribing a preparation containing benzyl peroxide. If this doesn’t work, or if you have more severe acne, there are a range of other treatment options. These come as creams or lotions that your can rub on to your skin, or as tablets

Creams and Lotions

There are several creams and lotions you may be prescribed, including those listed below. • Azelaic acid (Skinoren) is an alternative to benzoyl peroxide and may not make your skin as sore as benzoyl peroxide. • Retinoids (eg Adapalene) are medicines based on vitamin A, which you can rub into your skin daily. They work by encouraging the outer layer of skin to flake off. • An antibiotic lotion, such as clindamycin (eg Dalacin T) or erythromycin (eg Stiemycin), applied to your skin can be used to control the P. acnes bacteria. You will need to continue this treatment for at least six months

Tablets

There are several oral treatments you may be prescribed. Antibiotics, such as tetracycline, can be prescribed for inflammatory acne. You should take these daily for around three months, although it might take four to six months for you to see the benefits. The success of this treatment can be limited because the strains of bacteria are often resistant to the common antibiotics. Antibiotics don’t prevent pores from becoming blocked so treatment to prevent blackheads, such as benzoyl peroxide, is often also prescribedat the same time

Acne not only causes physical symptoms but may make you feel anxious or depressed as well. You should start treatment as early as possible to reduce the risk of scarring and follow your doctor’s advice about treatment
